Actually Showing an Interest in Walking

Carson hasn't shown much interest in walking until recently. He just started to enjoy using his push toy and will now hold one of my hands while "walk" with him. Dave and I have a bet as to when he will start walking. I was being super optimistic and picked Sept 13th because I would love for him to take his first steps while we are in Hawaii. Dave picked his birthday, October 3rd. Keep posted to see who will be closest. I think I am betting on Dave, but you never know!

Big Boy Cup

Who knew a cup could be so much fun? Carson loves to drink out of a big boy cup! He enjoys smoothies and water out of his cup, but his favorite is taking assisted sips when it is ice water. He is very proud of himself ; )

Watch out Clare

We all had lots of fun at the wine festival in Mammoth. There were great wineries there and we had plenty to drink! Carson enjoyed playing with his grams, grandpops, his aunties and uncle. He also met little Makenzie. She is the daughter of a friend of mine from when I was a baby. We are excited for Makenzie, Brooke and Ryan to move to San Diego. Makenzie is absolutely adorable! Check out all that darling hair for an 8 month old.

Family Hike

While in Mammoth, Carson enjoyed his first hike to McLeod Lake. He liked riding high and taking in the sights while in Corbin's hiking backpack.

Laptop Fun Continues

Busy at Work

Carson certainly wants to emulate what we do, and working on a laptop is no exception. Dave hopes we don't have a future lawyer, but Carson certainly likes to mimic Auntie Erin and Daddy by typing on a laptop and blackberry. He was in heaven when he had a blackberry in both hands! I am definitely putting a stop to letting him play with laptops and blackberries....he is already hooked!!! I have to admit though, it is crazy how fast he stops crying when he is upset and we hand him Dave's blackberry. He is sick right now and the only thing that would help him stop crying yesterday was holding the blackberry. It's unbelievable!!!

Best Friends

Carson and Chaucer finally made a connection! They have both been interested in each other, but now they seem to enjoy hanging out together. I think Chaucer realized that this "puppy" that gets so much attention isn't going away so he might as well be friendly with him. It was very cute; Carson would go up to Chaucer and lay his head on him as if giving him a hug. Chaucer was very tolerant of Carson's "love"!

Like Father, Like Son

It seems that Carson has as much love for the blackberry as Dave does. I curse the person that invented the technology for those things. It drives me crazy that Dave is reachable for work all the time! Carson has been trying to get his little hands on that thing for almost his whole life (all 13 months of it), and Dave finally gave in last weekend. Carson can't get enough of it, and it is giving a whole new meaning to the term "Crackberry". I'm just waiting for the day that he breaks it. I must admit that I won't be too sad if it is temporarily out of commission ; )

On the Road Again

It seems that we have been doing lots of traveling lately. We are off to Mammoth this weekend with my family for the Wine & Music Festival. We are super excited for a weekend of family time filled with golf, hiking, mountain biking plus eating yummy food and drinking wine, of course! Carson was trying to be helpful as we packed and decided just to put himself in the suitcase. Perhaps he is like us and wishes he could avoid the 6 hour drive and just ship himself up there!

Big Ballers

So Dave and I felt like superstars last night as we watched the Padres game from the Sony Dugout. The seats were amazing and you wouldn't believe the set-up. There was a gourmet restaurant, fancy bar, deli, any dessert you could imagine and service like you wouldn't believe. You could basically get anything you wanted brought to you. We felt pretty cool ; ) We went with a couple lawyers that are trying to get Invitrogen as a client. I enjoyed this perk of Dave's new job on the other side! We had lots of fun, even though the Padres lost, and Carson had a great night with his favorite babysitter, Melissa, who is going back to school this weekend. We are very sad to see her go! We have really enjoyed Thursday date nights and Carson loves to play with Melissa.

Hangin' at Bars

Yesterday Carson and I went to Arterra Lounge with Sara & Clare. I love that there are hip bars, like this one and the W Downtown, that do Mommy Lunch Hour. I don't exactly want to think about what goes on at night there when Carson is crawling on the ground, but it is pretty nice to be at a cool, trendy place even if I am carrying a diaper bag and chasing after a 13 month old that likes to use the heat lamps as drums. Carson enjoyed his chicken fingers lunch...what's not to love about chicken fingers?!

Del Mar Beach with Miss Siena Ryanne

We had a busy day today! I had to make up for our time apart while I was in SB. This morning we met Kim & Siena for coffee and then played at the beach followed by a walk. Carson was very happy! Carson was crawling after Siena and it was super cute. She is adorable and walking now, but a couple times she came down to Carson's level and crawled with him. The kids got worn out playing and then Carson fell asleep in his stroller while we walked. I was joking to Kim that I wish somebody would push me along as I listened to the waves crashing....how could he not fall asleep! We all had a great time.

Santa Barbara for Maggie's Shower

This past weekend Carson and Dave had a boys weekend while I was in Santa Barbara with my college friends. They had a great weekend together, and Dave really enjoyed having all that time with Carson after being out of town for so long. They went on lots of walks with Carson's car, saw a kid's concert, went out to lunch to Red Robin and bought me a pair of shoes. I was very impressed with Dave's Mr.Mom duties. The house was even clean when I came home!

I had a great time with my girlfriends. Maggie's baby girl Blake is due in September and the shower was lots of fun. I love seeing the sea of pink at showers for baby girls. Maggie looks fantastic and only has about 6 weeks to go. Baby Charlie Vick made an appearance at the shower and is as adorable as ever. I held him as much as a could. He is so darling and Alex looks great! Saturday night after the shower, we went out to dinner and had a pretty big night out on the town after Mags & Alexis (the pregos) went home. Marisa, Megan, Leticia, Cami, Lisa & I were definitely the oldest girls at every bar on State Street! Here are some pics from my weekend.

Catching Water

Carson always has a great time at our neighborhood pool, especially in the water park. He is gradually getting braver and gravitating towards the bigger fountains. He can't seem to understand why he can't "catch" the water. He finds it pretty frustrating, but he isn't giving up yet!

Watch Out

Carson loves to "drive". While we were waiting for friends, Carson had a blast moving the steering wheel, looking out, and discovering the windshield wipers!

Family Visit

Grams is finally back home! My mom was in Africa on a service trip for Women of Vision. She had an incredible trip and we are so proud of her, but it is so nice to have her back. Also we got to visit with my Aunt Kathy and Cousin Trace visiting from Northern California. We spent that afternoon at the beach in Crystal Cove, had lunch at Beachcomber and enjoyed dinner at my parents house. Carson had a great day catching up with his family!
